It’s only been two months since I’ve lasted posted a “weekly” roundup and, hey, that’s better than five. In a year where one day seems to go on for three eternities and three seconds all at once, I’m cutting myself some slack—and crossing my fingers that we’ll all survive this dystopian nightmare long enough to make making them actually be weekly into a New Year’s resolution.
Weekly Roundup: August 31 – September 5, 2020 (or, “The Revival”)
Well, it’s only been five months since I’d last posted a “weekly” roundup. That’s pretty on brand at this point, right?
In these times of COVID-19, time as a concept seems as nebulous as it does immemorial. Seriously, some days I wake up and still wonder if it’s June. Yet, the clock does still keep ticking in the same 12-rung, twice-a-day cycle that it always has. There have still been some landmark moments here and there that recall that place some semblance of rigidity back into the monthly calendar. A lot of it, in 2020 fashion, hasn’t been good. In an at-home dosage of bad news, my mini-dachshund of 14 years, Twinkie, passed away in June.
Weekly Roundup: April 13 – 19, 2020 (or, “The Good in the Bad”)
Like so many others, I was swept up in blind, desperate optimism while blurring out the facts. COVID-19 is here, and its influence is vast. Take your pick of the likes of past pandemics and epidemics, and MERS, SARS, Ebola, and more are still deadlier than COVID-19, but deadliness should have never been the only quantifying factor in any of our minds. The key behind why we’re all cooped up in our homes at the time being seems more to be with the efficacy of transference than anything.
Weekly Roundup: March 2 – 9, 2020 (or, “Expanding Roles”)
Here we are, folks! Without further ado, we’re coming in hot with another “weekly” roundup. This one is only 8 weeks behind, which means that somewhere along the way, progress is being made (considering that the last before our January roundup was in November). Should I start making these into a more manageable monthly roundup format? Probably. For now, though, let’s stubbornly grip onto this weekly dream and maybe it’ll come true.
Weekly Roundup: January 5 – 12, 2020 (or, “What is Folk?”)
Aptly titled the ‘Redemption Roundup’, our last Weekly Roundup blog promptly vowed to “resume our curation of actually weekly [sic] Weekly Roundups.” That was on November 30th.
Weekly Roundup: November 24 – 30, 2019 (a.k.a. The Redemption Roundup)
Well, pals, it’s only been twelve weeks since our last Weekly Roundup. Apologies are in order, especially since, as this website continues to flourish, I wouldn’t want to miss even dream of missing a single roundup. Compacting a lengthy series of whiffed excuses into a something singular, I can only express that a routine is difficult to adhere to when you’re first starting out. No matter the weather or where I’m at in life following this point henceforth, I, Jonathan Frahm, vow to update my website on a consistent basis. We shall begin with actually weekly Weekly Roundups.
Weekly Roundup: September 9 – 15, 2019
My weekly roundup of articles I’ve had published includes the world premiere of Engelbert Humperdinck’s first-ever music video over at PopMatters, an interview with singer-songwriter Horace Holloway, and Lister and I’s next installment in our Super Cast Bros. podcast.
